Since allowing three runs in 3 1/3 innings in his first start for Durham in May, Matt Andriese has allowed six earned runs in 38 2/3 innings with 36 strikeouts and four walks.
Blake Snell will make his Bulls debut tonight.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (50-48)
Matt Andriese continued to be untested in Triple-A in Durham's 4-0 win over Charlotte. He struck out seven, walked none and allowed just two hits in seven scoreless innings before Andrew Bellatti struck out five over the last two innings to wrap up the game. After Hak-Ju Lee and Luke Maile walked to open the sixth, Ryan Brett drove both in with a single. In the ninth, Maile and Boog Powell had RBI hits.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (15-11)
After winning a gold medal at the Pan Am Games, Jared Mortensen tossed seven scoreless innings in Montgomery's 6-0 win over Jackson. He only struck out two, but he scattered just five hits and three walks before Matt Lollis struck out three in two perfect innings to end the game. Cameron Seitzer homered in support of his staff, and Joey Rickard drove in three.
Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (11-17)
Charlotte was unable to get out of a 3-0 hole in its 3-2 loss to Daytona. After a 1-2-3 first inning, Hunter Wood allowed three runs over the next two and finished with three runs allowed on seven hits and a walk in six innings. Yoel Araujo's RBI single got Charlotte on the board in the fifth, and the Tortugas conceded the second run an inning later on Granden Goetzman's groundout.
Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (14-14)
Bowling Green forgot to hit in its 5-0 loss to Lansing. Starter Brad Wallace allowed two runs in the first and finished with three runs -- two earned -- in five innings. The Hot Rods only had four hits, all of which were single.
Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (18-14)
Hudson Valley was unable to erase a 3-0 deficit and fell apart late in its 8-3 loss to Williamsport. Travis Ott allowed a two-run homer in the first and finished with three runs -- two earned -- allowed on seven hits in four innings despite six strikeouts. The Renegades scored two in the fourth to pull within 3-2, but Justin McCalvin allowed five runs in the seventh.
Rookie Princeton Rays (17-11)
Brett Sullivan's home run was not enough in Princeton's 2-1 win to Elizabethton. Sullivan's eighth-inning home run broke a scoreless deadlock, but Junior Feliz could not hang onto the lead in his fourth full inning of work. He allowed the tying run with two outs in the ninth, and Armando Bastardo allowed an inherited runner to score without recording an out. Ian Gibaut struck out seven in 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
Rookie Gulf Coast League Rays (6-20)
The GCL Rays earned a rare win with a 6-2 triumph over the GCL Red Sox. Still deadlocked at 0-0 after seven innings, the GCL Rays broke out for four in the eighth. Oscar Rojas led off with a double and scored on Devin Davis' double, and Rafelin Lorenzo later in doubled in two runs. They gave up two runs in the bottom half of the inning but got both back in the top of the ninth. Starter Jose Disla struck out six in five scoreless innings, and John Williams and Collin Chapman each tossed two scoreless frames in relief.
