The results are in from the online voting that is MLB's attempt at being relevant, and would you believe there aren't any Rays that won?

Here are the results for the American League:

AMERICAN LEAGUE
C: Salvador Perez, Royals
1B: Miguel Cabrera, Tigers
2B: Jose Altuve, Astros
3B: Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays
SS: Alcides Escobar, Royals
OF: Mike Trout, Angels
OF: Lorenzo Cain, Royals
OF: Alex Gordon, Royals
DH: Nelson Cruz, Mariners

Amazingly, the leader in all voting was not Mike Trout, but third baseman Josh Donaldson. The fanbase in Toronto are great voters, though, often getting Joey Bats into the starting line up, so not hugely surprising. Now the National League:

NATIONAL LEAGUE
C: Buster Posey, Giants
1B: Paul Goldschmidt, D-backs
2B: Dee Gordon, Marlins
3B: Todd Frazier, Reds
SS: Jhonny Peralta, Cardinals
OF: Bryce Harper, Nationals
OF: Matt Holliday, Cardinals
OF: Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins

Ignore the presence of Buster Posey above, or wipe your tears and move on. The important exception here is the lack of a starting pitcher, and that will be announced tonight.

There are four candidates from the Rays to be named to the All-Star roster, but there's one player we think could be a starter...

We shall see!
