I did not watch Matt Moore's start and cannot speak to how he looked, but his line would suggest he has had better days.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (57-61)
Durham rallied late for a 4-3 win over Norfolk. After falling behind 3-0 early, Ryan Brett got the Bulls on the board with an RBI single in the sixth. In the eighth, Taylor Motter drew a walk with the bases loaded, and Luke Maile put Durham ahead with a two-run single. Matt Moore allowed all three Tides runs on five hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (25-19)
Montgomery was off.
Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (16-27)
Charlotte's rally fell short in its 4-3 loss to Palm Beach. After Buddy Borden walked the bases loaded without recording an out in the sixth, all three inherited scored against Mike Franco. Andrew Velazquez drove in a run in the seventh, and Justin Williams did the same in the eighth before Jace Conrad grounded into an inning-ending double play. Borden walked six and was charged with four runs in five-plus innings. Desmond Jennings was 2-for-4.
Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (22-23)
Bowling Green scored a pair of runs late in its 2-1 win over Burlington. After six innings of nonexistent offense, Carter Burgess led off the seventh with a single, and Nick Ciuffo singled him in. With two outs, Alec Sole and Cristian Toribio hit back-to-back singles to score Ciuffo and give the Hot Rods the lead. Starter Brad Wallace allowed a run on seven hits and a walk in 5 1/3 innings, and the win went to Kyle Bird with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (23-28)
Hudson Valley could not get anything going in its 2-0 loss to Mahoning Valley. The Scrappers hit back-to-back extra-base hits to open the game and score the first run, and they added the second run in the fifth. Angel Yepez allowed both runs on five hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings. Alex Schmidt batted 2-for-2.
After tying the game at four in the eighth, Princeton fell to Danville by a 5-4 score. Princeton fell behind 2-0 early and trailed until the eighth when David Olmedo-Barrera and Kewby Meyer had RBI hits to even the score. Armando Bastardo recorded two quick outs in the ninth, but Danville strung together three hits in a row to go back ahead. Starter Alexis Tapia allowed three runs -- two earned -- in five innings with five strikeouts.
Rookie Gulf Coast League Rays (10-34)
The GCL Rays erased a two run deficit and immediately fell behind again in their 5-2 loss to the GCL Twins in game one. A fielder's choice and Oscar Rojas single in the fifth tied the game at two, but Francisco Mena promptly allowed three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Starter Adrian Navas allowed two runs in two innings.
Miguel Hernandez's walkoff home run lifted the GCL Rays to a 1-0 win in nine innings. It was just their third hit of the game and first since the sixth inning. Reign Letkeman started and threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings, and Edrick Agosto struck out four over the final 4 1/3.
