Matt Moore finished with three runs allowed, but two of them came in his last inning. Let's see if he can build on this.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (59-65)

Matt Moore was much better in Durham's 9-3 win over Louisville. After dominating the Bats earlier in August, Moore threw his longest outing since a shutout against Boston in July 2013. He finished with three runs allowed over seven innings with six strikeouts and no walks, throwing 73 of his 95 pitches for strikes. The last two runs scored on a home run in his last inning. Taylor Motter homered and drove in four runs.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (30-19)

Montgomery jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 win over Birmingham. Cameron Seitzer doubled in a run in the first inning, and in the third, he scored what proved to be the decisive run on Jake Bauers' double play. Jacob Faria struck out five in six innings and limited the Barons to two runs on six hits and four walks.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (18-29)

Charlotte was postponed.

Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (25-24)

Bowling Green was off.

Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (27-28)

Hudson Valley is at the All-Star break.

Rookie Princeton Rays (30-24)

Deivy Mendez's struggles continued, even in the bullpen in Princeton's 6-2 loss to Kingsport. Although the loss went to Ethan Clark, Mendez let the game get away from Princeton when he allowed four runs in three innings of relief. Clark struck out six and allowed the first two runs in five frames. Zacrey Law singled in the first run of the game in the third, but Princeton did not score again until Kingsport built a comfortable lead.

Rookie Gulf Coast League Rays (12-36)

The GCL Rays made a comeback for a surprising 2-1 win over the GCL Red Sox. Trailing 1-0 in the seventh, Miguel Hernandez led off with a single and scored on Rafelin Lorenzo's double, and Lorenzo later scored on a balk. John Williams won his fifth game with two scoreless innings of relief, and Junior Feliz allowed a run in five innings. Ernesto Frieri tossed a 1-2-3 first.
