Be sure to check out Danny's midseason top-30 prospect list posted Friday.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (55-58)
Matt Moore was better, and so was Durham's offense in the Bulls' 10-1 win over Louisville. Taylor Motter and J.P. Arencibia each had RBI doubles in a five-run first inning against top Reds prospect Robert Stephenson, and Mikie Mahtook's two-run home run in the sixth helped Durham add on. Moore was perfect through the first four innings and finished with a run allowed on two hits and a walk in six innings with seven strikeouts.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (21-19)
Jacksonville socked five homers in Montgomery's 7-2 loss to the Suns. Starter Jared Mortensen served up three of those and finished with five runs allowed in 5 1/3 innings. Jake Bauers' RBI double in the fourth pulled the Biscuits within 3-2 before Jacksonville scored four unanswered runs to close the game.
Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (16-22)
Charlotte erased a 4-0 deficit but could not get on the board again in its 6-4 loss to Bradenton. Buddy Borden allowed a three-run homer in the first and uncorked a run-scoring wild pitch an inning later, but the Stone Crabs battled back. Maxx Tissenbaum's leadoff double in the second sparked a three-run inning, and he hit his first home run of the season an inning later. All four of Borden's runs were unearned, and Steve Ascher and Isaac Gil each allowed a run late.
Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods (20-21)
A five-run sixth lifted Bowling Green to a 7-5 win over Cedar Rapids. Doubles from Nick Ciuffo, Coty Blanchard and Alec Sole helped the Hot Rods break a 2-2 tie, and Justin Williams' bases-clearing double later in the inning was the finishing blow. Starter Chris Pike allowed two runs on five hits and three walks in six innings.
Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (22-24)
Hudson Valley blew a 4-0 lead in its 6-4 loss to Staten Island. Manny Sanchez's infield hit gave the Renegades a 1-0 lead in the third, and consecutive base hits from Angel Moreno, Oscar Sanay and Josh Rapacz plated three more an inning later. Benton Moss struck out eight and allowed just one run in six innings, but Staten Island got to Justin McCalvin for four runs -- one earned -- in the seventh.
Rookie Princeton Rays (26-17)
Princeton continued to get good pitching in its 2-0 win over Burlington. Despite scattering just four hits and a walk over five scoreless innings, Deivi Mendez could not get the win because both runs came late in the game. Burlington conceded the first run in the eighth on a groundout, but Peter Maris' RBI single in the ninth added insurance. Ian Gibaut threw three scoreless innings in relief.
Rookie Gulf Coast League Rays (9-30)
The GCL Rays shocked the world and earned a 4-3 win over the GCL Orioles. With two outs in the ninth, Garrett Whitley delivered a single that broke a 3-3 tie, and Francisco Mena stranded the potential tying run on third in the ninth. Earlier in the game, Anthony Cantillo doubled home two runs, and starter Abrahan Rodriguez allowed three runs -- two earned -- in five innings.
