Charlotte may have backed into the playoffs with a poor second half, but that has not bothered the Stone Crabs yet.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (0-1)
Montgomery sustained a walkoff loss in its 4-3 defeat to Chattanooga in Game 1. Brad Schreiber came on for the save and struck out the first two batters of the inning, but the ninth went south from there. He walked consecutive hitters, and two runners were in scoring position after a wild pitch. Max Kepler then delivered a two-run single to send Lookouts fans home happy.
Jake Bauers and Justin O'Conner drove in runs in the second inning, and Patrick Leonard's home run in the sixth gave the Biscuits a 3-1 lead. Starter Jaime Schultz only allowed a run in five innings with four strikeouts, but he did walk five.
Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (3-0)
Chih-Wei Hu turned in his best start since joining Charlotte in the Stone Crabs' 1-0 win over Daytona in Game 1 of the Florida State League championship. After allowing four-plus runs in every prior appearance for the Stone Crabs, Hu was at his best, striking out nine and scattering just five hits and a walk over eight scoreless innings. Granden Goetzman led off the second inning with a single, and he scored the game's lone run on Justin Williams' two-out double.
