Rays History:

On October 31st, 2008 following the completion of the world series, player on the last years of their contracts officially became free agents, with Rocco Baldelli being among them. This meant the end of Baldelli’s first tenure with the Rays where he went through some tremendous ups and downs as he became one of the most highly touted prospects in the game to having his career severely impacted by injuries.

From 2003 to 2008, Baldelli slashed .281/.325/.445 with 52 home runs. His injuries forced him into early retirement after his second, much briefer tenure with the Rays in January of 2011.
