Late Night Raymblings: Honeyday does not disappoint

Rays top prospect RHP Brent Honeywell was lights out in his AFL All Star Game start.

Brent Honeywell's been a hot topic lately as we've been seeing more of his stuff on display in his Arizona Fall League starts. Last night he was the hottest topic among some of the best prospects in the game, and if you take a look at this video, you'll see why:

He mixed in all five of his pitches in the quick outing and seemed to have them all under pretty good control. The screwball was clearly on display as his out pitch and he dialed the fourseam up to 98 at one point. He ended the day with a line of 2 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 5 Ks, 31 pitches, 21 strikes. He did have a fly out to deep right, but other than that very little contact was made. I can only recall one foul off in the entire outing. Extremely impressive on its own, even more so when you consider the competition he was facing. Five of the six hitters he faced are top 100 prospects!

Here's an interview from a few days before the outing where he mentions his change up as his best pitch and shows his screwball grip.

The Twittersphere was pretty excited about the outing. Here are a few goodies:

How long until this guy is pitching at the Trop?!
