The Rays beat the Yankees yesterday to split their road trip 3-3. Steven Souza Jr. knocked two long balls on his birthday. Birthdays are the extra 2%. We need more birthdays.
The Orioles visit Tropicana Field for the next three days. This is a big opportunity to close in on the AL East leaders. After starting the season 7-0, they are 4-6 over their last 10. Prediction: Chris Archer returns to form and the bats stay hot against victim Kevin Gausman to give Archer his first win and much needed quality start of the season.
Drew Smyly is pretty good:
Here's something you wouldn't have expected to see: #Rays LHP Drew Smyly leading the majors in strikeouts, with 33— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) April 24, 2016
I guess we need Lucroy to compete:
If #Rays are serious about contending, they should consider trading for J. Lucroy, per @TBTimes_Rays. More from AL: https://t.co/pXgrBmjk1k— MLB Trade Rumors (@mlbtraderumors) April 24, 2016
Rays offense getting hot:
#Rays 4th most HR in AL (23) and 3rd highest ISO (.169). The offense has been taking off. 24 runs first 10 games, 41 last 8. #OffenseRising— Josh Morgan (@JoshuaTMorgan) April 25, 2016
- Voting for the All Star Game opened yesterday!
- Notes on Guyer's HBP tendencies.
- This leader board shows 3 Rays starters not named Chris Archer in the top 19 pitchers in the AL. Will the Rays have an effective Archer and Erasmo Ramirez to add to that soon?
- RHP Jhan Marinez debuted for the Rays yesterday out of the bullpen and he still has his 96 mph velocity 4 years after his last MLB appearance.
