Editor's Note on Game of Thrones recaps

Winter is coming, and so is our Game of Thrones coverage.

Last season, following a fun piece by friend of the site Manu pairing Game of Thrones characters with baseball teams in a vain now all too popular, we began a thought experiment to understand how the beloved and popular Game of Thrones television series could inform our fandom and experience of not only baseball, but life itself.

The dialogue about the series was engaging and wonderful, and since our readership aims to exist as a community, I commissioned and encouraged "game recaps" about Thrones to follow, and through Manu's thorough writing, these labors of love in his analysis grew into a broader look at themes of life and love and loss, more so than just a game analysis.

This was a natural progression, one that flowed from thoughtful and passionate writing, and grew from a response that was encouraging and overwhelmingly positive last year.

No, it is no longer baseball-centric content, and if you do not care for it you do not have to read it. But if you do, we hope you find the analysis to be enlightening, heartfelt, and informative for your experience of not only that show, but how we interpret any game we love to see unfold on television.

In full disclosure, we did make attempts to launch a separate television and film platform under the Vox umbrella, but given the work already dispersed between Polygon, Verge, and Vox.com. one did not come to fruition in the last year. As such, I have invited Manu to continue writing his recaps here at DRaysBay.
