Top pitching prospects Blake Snell, Jacob Faria, and Hunter Wood all take the mound Friday, so it will be a good day for any fans of the Rays' minor league pitching (which is more or less everyone here).
Triple-A Durham Bulls (10-12)
The Bulls allowed five runs in the top of the eighth and ended up falling to the Louisville Bats, 8-3. Justin Marks ended up taking the loss after allowing those four runs. Taylor Motter and Richie Shaffer hit solo home runs back to back in the fourth to get the only RBIs for the Bulls. Jake Goebbert scored on a error by the Bats in the bottom of the seventh.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (12-8)
The Montgomery Biscuits jumped out to an early lead against the Chattanooga Lookouts and never looked back, cruising to a 6-1 victory. Kean Wong had an RBI double and a solo home run to lead the Montgomery offense. Johnny Field, Jake Bauers, Willy Adames, and Juniel Querecuto all contributed an RBI each to the effort. On the mound, Chih-Wei Hu started and threw five innings, allowing only one run and striking out four. Brett Marshall threw two no-hit innings in relief and Adam Kolarek finished off the game with two more innings and only gave up one hit.
Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (10-11)
Charlotte's offense was in full gear the entire game, as they smacked around the St. Lucie Mets, 10-3. Nearly the entire lineup contributed RBIs to get the win. Cade Gotta hit a two-run home run in third inning and Bralin Jackson, Alec Sole, and Pat Blair each hit solo home runs. Brent Honeywell went 5 2/3 innings and allowed only one run, keeping his ERA staggeringly low at 0.89. Kyle Bird threw 1 1/3 no-hit innings in relief.
Class-A Bowling Green (10-11)
Despite three runs in the bottom of the eighth, the Hot Rods fell to the Clinton Lumberkings, 6-3. Genesis Cabrera lasted only one inning before having to be pulled, allowing three unearned runs and taking the loss, his first of the season. Yonny Chirinos was the only pitcher for Bowling Green who didn't allow a run. Zacrey Law drove in a run on a double and Angel Moreno had a two-run single to drive in the only runs of the game.
