It seems like Jacob Faria is hitting a roadblock in his development for maybe the first time as a professional, but he's had enough success that I'd imagine he'll pitch through it.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (10-13)
After five easy innings, Blake Snell ran into trouble in the fifth in Durham's 4-2 loss to Louisville. He allowed just a hit and a walk in those five frames, but a three-run home run by Reds prospects Jesse Winker erased the Bulls' 2-0 lead. Snell walked the next two batters and finished with four runs charged to his line in 5 1/3 innings despite six strikeouts. Durham had just three hits.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (12-9)
Jacob Faria's run of rough starts continued in Montgomery's 5-4 loss to Chattanooga. After walking nine batters and allowing nine runs in just 9 2/3 innings over his last two outings, Faria allowed four runs in 2 2/3 frames, his shortest appearance since 2012. Juniel Querecuto's RBI single in the second initially gave the Biscuits a 1-0 lead, but the Lookouts piled on the next five runs of the game.
Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (10-12)
Charlotte was shut down by strong Fort Myers pitching in a 5-0 loss Friday. The Stone Crabs managed just a pair of singles during the game, one from Cade Gotta in the second and another off the bat of Bralin Jackson in the ninth. Hunter Wood allowed four runs -- two earned -- in 6 2/3 innings with five strikeouts.
Class-A Bowling Green (11-11)
Kevin Padlo's three-hit night led Bowling Green to a 7-4 win over Kane County. The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Padlo's second home run of the year, a three-run shot, capped a five-run second for the Hot Rods. With all the run support, Henry Centeno cruised to another solid start, allowing two runs -- one earned -- in 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.
