Game 5 Notes: Tampa Bay Rays vs Baltimore Orioles

Chris Archer makes his second start of the year against the feast or famine Orioles

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight, the Rays will take on the Orioles at Camden Yards with both of their aces taking the hill on what should be a frigid night. The forecast for this series looks bleak with tonight actually looking much better than tomorrow, but the players will still have to play in temperatures in the mid 40's with 10+ mph winds.

Today's Starting Pitchers:

Chris Archer vs Chris Tillman

W L ERA FIP K% BB% AVG HR GS IP fWAR
Chris Archer 12 13 3.23 2.90 29.0% 7.6% .219 19 34 212 5.3
Chris Tillman 11 11 4.99 4.45 16.2% 8.6% .262 20 31 173 1.9

Chris Archer made the Opening Day start on Sunday, and after some early inning rustiness, he settled in and delivered one of the better Opening Day performances in recent memory as he struck out 12 Blue Jays, and finished the day by recording his last nine outs via strikeout. Archer racked up double digit strikeout total in just five innings as well, nonetheless, he'd suffer the loss as he allowed three runs -- two earned -- on five hits, while he also walked three.

Chris Tillman Scouting Report:

The perennial ace of the Orioles staff was acquired back in 2008 as part of the Eric Bedard haul. He'd make his debut in 2009 and after a few up and down year, he hasn't seen the minors since 2013.  A down year in 2015, Tillman is hoping for a rebound this season and got off to an excellent start, striking out five in just two innings before mother nature ended his night on Monday.
