Rays prospects and minor leagues: Snell sharp in Bulls win

Blake Snell has been inconsistent in 2016, but he showed a glimpse of 2015 on Friday

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Fans in the Tampa Bay area have three more chances to see the Stone Crabs in Lakeland. Also note that Genesis Cabrera is scheduled to pitch on MiLB.TV Saturday.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (18-25)

Blake Snell turned in his best start of the season in Durham's 4-1 win over Rochester. In a season-high six scoreless innings, the star lefty prospect tied a season best with nine strikeouts, and he walked just two. The Red Wings got their lone run off Neil Wagner in the ninth. Kyle Roller's home run to start the two-run fifth opened the scoring, and Juniel Querecuto doubled in two more in the sixth.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (22-18)

Despite doubling the amount of runs he's allowed in Double A this season, Chih-Wei Hu was still solid in Montgomery's 3-0 loss to Birmingham. The Barons got the run they needed in the fourth inning, and Hu finished his outing with three runs -- two earned -- allowed in seven innings with five strikeouts. Casey Gillaspie stole a base.

Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (22-21)

Hunter Wood didn't have his best game, but it was good enough in Charlotte's 5-3 win over Lakeland. After retiring the first six he faced, a walk and two-run home run allowed Lakeland to even the score in the third, and a two-out rally an inning later evened the score again a half inning after the Stone Crabs went up 3-2. He struck out seven and allowed three runs on four hits and three walks in six frames. Alec Sole homered and scored an insurance run later in the game.

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (22-18)

Bowling Green was postponed.
