Rays prospects and minor leagues: Durham pulls off the comeback with four home runs

Michael Russell went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Bowling Green

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

MILB's website has Hunter Wood listed as the probable for Charlotte today, which is highly improbable considering he's in Double-A with Montgomery.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (21-31)

Durham did something they have struggled with lately, scoring runs when needed to pull off a 5-3 win over the Scranton Railriders. Kyle Roller threatened with a leadoff triple -- yes, you read that right -- in the second inning, but was promptly putout by the third baseman the next play. Justin Marks allowed three runs in the fourth inning to put the Bulls in a hole. However, a Jake Goebbert home run and Jaff Decker sacrifice fly in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively, brought the Bulls within striking distance. Nick Franklin and Dayron Varona each homered in the eighth (Varona's was a two-run shot) to tie the game and then give Durham the lead. Dylan Floro came in the ninth inning and retired the side in order to pick up his third save of the year.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (24-25)

Montgomery was off.

Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (26-26)

Charlotte was off.

Class-A Bowling Green (26-24)

Bowling Green picked up their 26th win in a 5-1 game over the Great Lakes Loons. Blake Bivens threw five solid innings, allowing only one run on a solo home run while striking out five. Bryan Bonnell and Diego Castilla each allowed only one hit in two innings apiece. Kevin Padlo cracked open the scoring with a two-run double in the second inning. Michael Russell had an RBI double and came around to score on the same play on a throwing error. Joe McCarthy had an RBI single in the seventh to pad the lead.
