TODAY'S STARTING PITCHERS:
Who had Matt Andriese as being the Rays starter with the best numbers in mid-June? I know I certainly did, but I digress. Andriese didn't have his best stuff during his last outing against the Twins, but still managed to go five innings, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits while he didn't walk anyone, but also picked up five strikeouts to pick up his fourth victory of the season.
Lance McCullers Scouting Report:
After starting the year on the disabled list, McCullers had a less than stellar season debut in mid-May against the Red Sox where he allowed more runs than innings pitched (5 R over 4.2 IP). However, he has consistently gotten better with each start since then with a slight hiccup against the Diamondbacks two weeks ago. His follow-up start though was his best of the year where he went seven innings and allowed just two runs on eight hits, striking out nine and walking three.
