Monday was mostly a losing night for Rays affiliates, but Monday is a day where we all lose regardless.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (30-36)
Durham pulled out a strong 5-0 victory over the Buffalo Bisons Monday night. Adam Wilk went eight two-hit innings to pick up his second win of the season in impressive fashion. J.P. Arencibia hit a solo home run in the second inning for home runs in back-to-back games. Arencibia also notched an RBI double later in the game. Nick Franklin also contributed two RBIs on a sacrifice fly in the first and an RBI groundout in the fifth. Jake Hager had an RBI triple in the sixth as well as notching a double earlier in the game.
Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (31-33)
Montgomery maintained the lead for most of the game but ultimately lost 4-3 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in walkoff fashion. Jacob Faria pitched six shutout innings before allowing a two-run home run in the seventh. The righty struck out seven betters and allowed only six hits. Kyle Bird allowed the two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth that handed the Wahoos the win. The Biscuits opened the scoring on a throwing error that allowed Cade Gotta to come home. Mike Marjama had two RBI singles, one in the sixth and one in the eighth, to drive Montgomery's offense.
Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (32-32)
A late three-run home run buried the Stone Crabs in a 4-1 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays. Benton Moss allowed one run through five innings of work, but Mike Franco gave up the deciding blow in the seventh inning. Alec Sole had an RBI triple in the fourth to get Charlotte's lone run. The Stone Crabs' offense looked weak overall, managing just four hits, two of which came from Justin Williams.
Class-A Bowling Green (31-32)
Bowling Green had little hope from the start, allowing five runs in the first two innings in a 7-2 loss to the Lake County Captains. Roel Ramirez had another poor start, allowing eight hits and five runs over six innings with Armando Bastardo allowing two more runs in relief. Kevin Padlo and David Rodriguez both knocked RBI doubles in the latter half of the game, but by then the nail was already in the coffin for the Hot Rods.
