Drew Smyly was stellar in April, but since May 10th, Smyly has made six starts and has a 7.76 ERA to show for it over 31 innings pitched -- barely averaging five innings a game. The Rays skipped his last start in the rotation to give him, both a break mentally and physically. His last start was on the fifth against the Twins where he allowed four runs on seven hits, walking three and striking out seven over five innings.
Nathan Karns Scouting Report:
After having an excellent beginning to his Mariners tenure, Karns has hit a brick wall over his last two starts. He's only recorded a total of eight innings during those outings, with his last one not being awful, just short as he allowed a run on two hits, walking and striking out five, pitching one out into the fifth inning.
