Rays prospects and minor leagues: Olmedo-Barrera drives in 3 for Hot Rods

Austin Pruitt pitched seven shutout innings, but Durham's bullpen and offense let him down

Jim Donten

Jacob Faria has had a rough season, with a 2-6 record after tonight along with a 4.14 ERA.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (30-40)

Durham put up little offense in a 1-0 loss to the Norfolk Tides. Austin Pruitt had an impressive start, allowing only four hits in seven shutout innings. However, Ryan Webb gave up the lone run in the bottom of the eighth in his first loss with the Bulls. The Bulls managed only two singles, coming from Daniel Robertson and Luke Maile.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (33-36)

Jacob Faria earned his sixth loss of the season with the Biscuits falling by a 4-2 deficit to the Chattanooga Lookouts. Faria allowed three runs in five innings of work, but he also struck out seven. Jordan Harrison also allowed a run in one inning of relief. Mike Marjama hit a solo home run in the third, and Jake Bauers had a sacrifice fly in the subsequent inning to provide Montgomery's offense.

Class-A Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (33-33)

Charlotte is off for the Florida State League All-Star Break.

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (36-32)

Bowling Green turned in another solid offensive performance in a 6-2 victory over the Fort Wayne TinCaps. David Olmedo-Barrera hit a two-run home run in the fifth as well as driving in a run on a fielder's choice. Meanwhile, Jake Cronenworth, Brett Sullivan, and Zacrey Law all chipped in an RBI each. Michael Velazquez allowed two unearned runs in six innings of work while striking out five, picking up his second win of the season. Diego Castillo and Armando Bastardo turned in scoreless outings out of the bullpen.

Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (1-1)

Hudson Valley lost their first game of the season in a 3-2 affair with the Aberdeen IronBirds. Eduar Lopez limited the IronBirds to two runs in five innings, but Garrett Fulenchek allowed the deciding run in the sixth, taking his first loss of the year. Noel Rodriguez inherited two runners from Fulenchek, but kept them from scoring, posting 3 1/3 shutout innings. The Renegades scored both of their runs on throwing errors.
