- Miles Wray of Baseball Prospectus went back to Jonah Keri’s The Extra 2% and asked whether that book, generally ballyhooing the Rays, saw their recent struggles coming. It’s a thoughtful read, so read it, but, um, easy answer: yes. Jonah’s not a fool. He can count.
- Fun look by Jeff Sullivan on Jose Fernandez’s 80 mph pitch in the All-Star game. Fernandez says it was a slow fastball, not a changeup. Sullivan explains what that means.
