How to rebuild the Rays for 2017

One Question Rays Must Answer Before Deadline

The Rays should be hesitant to acquire Joey Gallo

Where do we go from here?

Not discussed in detail (yet) are what prospects the Rays could be asking the Dodgers for in a trade of starting pitching (LA has two openings in rotation).

Also not discussed to-date is the potential of pairing up with Houston, another team that could use a starter, or the Rockies, a potential match for Steve Pearce.

The most likely contracts to be moved at today’s deadline are Steve Pearce and Matt Moore, although Jake Odorizzi and Drew Smyly are very much in play. The most recent rumors pair Moore with San Francisco, although Pittsburgh was a match in late July.

For what it’s worth, I do not expect Chris Archer to be moved mid-season, but you never know how high the offers might get!
