Drew Smyly once again fell victim do the home run bug that has plagued him all season as he sets his sight on James Shields home runs allowed record of 34 set in 2010. On the 21st against the Texas Rangers, Smyly allowed four runs on five hits, two home runs, while he walked one and struck out seven before departing with two outs in the seventh inning.

Fiers turned in one of his best starts of the season his last time out as he rebounded from two of his worst starts of the season. On the 20th in Baltimore against the Orioles, Fiers allowed just a lone run on five hits, one home run, while he walked one and struck out seven en route to his 9th victory of the season.
