Jake Odorizzi's run of solid starts came to a sudden halt during his last outing. Heading into that outing, Odorizzi gave up a total of 14 runs over 9 starts. He allowed half that total on the 6th against the Orioles as Baltimore got to him for seven runs on six hits, two home runs, while he walked three, and struck out two over four innings pitched en route to his first loss since July 10th.

Liriano will start his first game in three weeks, having made two relief appearances in the mean time. One of those outings was a disaster against the Rays where he allowed three runs and was out of the game before retiring a batter. His last outing was on the 5th against the Yankees which went significantly better as he tossed two scoreless innings, striking out three, and allowing just one hit.
