Although he hasn't made a huge step forward, Jake Odorizzi has quietly had another solid year for the Rays. He is approaching his career high for innings pitched as he just needs to log another eight innings on the mound to reach the new high. If Odorizzi can put up a decent month of September, 2016 could turn out to be the best year of his career thus far.
His last time out was on the 30th in Boston against the Red Sox where he allowed three runs on five hits, one home run, while he walked two and struck out seven over six innings pitched as he picked up a no-decision. Odorizzi hasn't received a loss since July 10th and over his last nine starts he has an ERA of 1.89 and over his last eight starts that drops to 1.76.
Yovani Gallardo Scouting Report:
Gallardo has not had a very good debut season with the Orioles organization as Baltimore was hoping for a frontline starter who could eat a lot of innings in their rotation and they have certainly not received that. He has struggled with a lack of command this year, especially against left-handed batters. His last time out was on the 31st against the Toronto Blue Jays where he allowed three runs on five hits, two home runs, while he walked two and struck out three over six innings pitched.
