The big news dominating the Rays-o-sphere was the firing of hitting coach Derek Shelton. You can find plenty of coverage here on the site, and you can sound off later today on the live AskDRB Q&A show over at the DRaysBay Facebook page (12pm EST).
The Heater had a video report on the firing of Derek Shelton and the promoting of Chad Mottola.
Perhaps lost a bit in the shuffle of the big Rays news, was the fact that the Rays have opted to not call up either Taylor Motter or Tim Beckham. Beckham is a unqiue case, but Motter not getting the call seems rather odd.
The Rays didn't call up Beckham or Motter, so they basically have no infield depth, despite it being September with extended rosters.
