There are 34 days remaining until pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Port Charlotte, signifying that baseball is back!

To commemorate the day, here’s a list of players who wore the #34 for the Rays

Dan Wheeler (1999-2001), Paul Abbott (2004), Jeff Niemann (2008-2012), and C.J. Riefenhauser (2014-2015).

Some memorable moments for this uniform in team history

Jeff Niemann dominates and delivers one of the best pitched games in franchise history as he stymied the Royals.

C.J. Riefenhauser has a stellar major league debut against the Yankees

The number 34 in Rays statistical history

The Rays single-season record for homers in a season used to be 34 before Carlos Pena came along and decimated it with 46 long balls during the 2007 season.

The record was firstset by Jose Canseco after he brought his antics to the Trop in 1999. Canseco slashed .279/.369/.563 with 34 HR over just 113 games that year as injuries likely prevented him from surpassing the 40 HR threshold.

Aubrey Huff would tie Canseco’s record during his breakout 2003 campaign in which he slashed .311/.367/.555 with 34 HR over 162 games.

The countdown continues tomorrow as the dates keep passing until spring training finally arrives
