The New York Yankees were in complete control Wednesday night as Masahiro Tanaka pitched 7 shutout innings on the way to a 5-0 win over the Houston Astros to take the ALCS lead at 3-2. The series returns to Houston on Friday for the remaining two games. The home team has won every game in the series to this point.

Meanwhile in the National League, the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 to stay alive in the NLCS. Clayton Kershaw matches up with Jose Quintana tonight in Chicago on TBS at 8:00 PM EST.

Lisa Winston at 2080 Baseball reviewed the 262 players who debuted at the major league level in 2017, including interesting factoids on Austin Pruitt, Daniel Robertson, and Jose Alvarado.

The Rays have 2017 1st round draft pick Brendan McKay working solely on the position player side of his game at instructs this off-season. According to Rays Director of Minor League Operations Mitch Lukevics, McKay the pitcher has reached an innings limit on the year between college and pro ball. It will be interesting to see if this ends up foreshadowing an eventual move to one side of the ball next season.
