Well, despite what many of us had thought possible, it appears as though the Rays are trading Evan Longoria to the San Francisco Giants.
The report comes from Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times:
BREAKING: #Rays have traded Longoria to #Giants
— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) December 20, 2017
And Ken Rosenthal is saying the same thing:
#SFGiants in discussions with #Rays about Evan Longoria, with Christian Arroyo possibly headed to TB, sources tell The Athletic.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 20, 2017
The potential return could include Christian Arroyo, the #89 prospect in baseball before the 2017 season. He is a 22-year-old infielder with an OPS of .548 in 34 career MLB games. Denard Span may be included as well.
If the report is true, it would leave Evan Longoria with 1,435 glorious games in a Tampa Bay Rays uniform.
Stay tuned to DRB for more information as the news continues to unfold.
Update:
Source: Giants get Evan Longoria for Christian Arroyo, Denard Span, Matt Krook and Stephen Woods.
