This tank was empty for at least the first hour that I tried to write it. Partly because I’m a terrible writer. Mostly because it’s hard to put into any kind of rational words what exactly happened yesterday. Luckily, many other articles have already been written by much more talented writers. After perusing through the various takes on the trade that sent the Rays face-of-the-franchise Evan Longoria to the San Francisco Giants yesterday, let us know how you’re feeling in the poll at the end of the post.
DRB
Jim Turvey relayed the breaking news to the DRaysBay community here, which is pushing 400 comments on the article as of this writing.
Ashley MacLennan captured some of Longoria’s feelings on the trade and his time with the Rays.
Daniel Russell laid the feels on us.
Adam Sanford is asking for your thoughts on the Longoria trade.
DRaysBay community member shanekeegan161 gave us a closer look at the SF Giants players coming over to the Rays.
Tampa Bay Times
The Times has five articles on the Longo trade. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays posted Longo’s best moments, and two (1, 2) quick audio recaps of the trade.
Fangraphs
FG has three articles. 1, 2, 3.
Others
John Sickels gives us a quick look at the players coming over to the Rays in the Longoria deal.
Chris Cotillo at MLB Daily Dish gave us a quick level-headed analysis of the players and what the trade means for both teams this off season.
Kyle Glaser at Baseball America gives us a good break down of all the pieces moving in the Longo trade.
Tom Ley at Deadspin thinks Rays fans are the biggest losers of the trade. I think we all agree.
That’s enough for now.
