A couple of glaring omissions from his list

Last week, Keith Law published his list of the top 100 prospects in baseball with just three Rays prospects making the cut.

Since then, Law has unveiled his top prospects in the Rays system and this morning he published the top ten prospects at each position, again with only three Rays making the cut.

The Rays managed to place two first baseman among the top ten with Jake Bauers coming in at number five, and then Casey Gillaspie being ranked at number eight. MLB Pipeline has Gillaspie at 5th overall for first baseman, and they consider Bauers an outfielder, placing him out of the top ten. Meanwhile, Willy Adames came in at number eight for short stops, while MLB Pipeline has him pegged at sixth overall.

All three of these players could spend some time in the majors in 2017 for the Rays, with Gillaspie the most likely to make the jump to the show.

The biggest omissions on his rankings have to be the pair of Jose De Leon and Brent Honeywell who were both left off his list of top ten right-handed pitching prospects. MLB Pipeline currently has the pair ranked as 7th and 8th respectively for right-handed pitching prospects.
