The Rays have seen many logos in their nearly 20-year history. We want to come up with some new ideas in the FanPost section of the site.
But first, a recap...
1998-2000
We started with the Rainbow gradient...
With an excellent cap logo combination
And solid jerseys...
Then the color scheme was simplified from the rainbow gradient and black background to just green and navy...
2001-2007
And eventually, for no logical reason, sleeves...
2008-Present
This dark color scheme didn’t sit with the new owners well, particularly when combined with the dark television product in Tropicana Field, and a whole new line was introduced, emphasizing lighter blues and a gold-yellow.
Meanwhile, there are faux-backs that make regular appearances...
But it’s that light burst logo, pulled from the R in Rays, that has slowly come to supplant the Devil Ray fish as the primary alternate logo, now featured heavily in Spring Training, on jerseys and hats...
And nothing else has come about.
The team now uses the same logo with multiple colors surrounding it, but not much else. Devil Ray — TB — TB — TB — tb — burst. It’s gotten rather dull.
I think we can add to the conversation with some fresh ideas, whether that be a new take on an existing logo, or adding something to the fray. Maybe it will even inspire the 20-year anniversary patch.
Here was my idea a couple years ago...
Give me your best ideas, drop them in a Fan Post, and the most rec’d take on a new jersey/logo/hat whatever gets a prize from me.
