FOX Sports Sun, Rays announce 2017 TV Schedule

The Rays are going to be on FOX Sports Sun for all but twelve games this season.

FOX Sports Sun and the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday announced a 150-game telecast schedule for the 2017 season that will once again see the network serve as the exclusive local television home for the Tampa Bay Rays.

FOX Sports Sun’s regular-season coverage begins Sunday, April 2, with the Rays home opener against New York, marking the first of 19 televised games against the Yankees. Coverage begins at 12:00 p.m. ET with a special one-hour edition of Rays Live.

Additionally, the home opener on April 2 will be televised nationally by ESPN in the very first game of the 2017 season.

The team is slated to take the national stage three times on FS1 as well, featuring the Rays and Yankees at the Trop on April 5, a game in Detroit on June 17, and at home against Texas on July 22.

As of publishing, seven games remain unpicked up by a broadcast network.

The Crew

Play-by-play announcer Dewayne Staats enters his 20th season in the booth alongside former MLB pitcher Brian Anderson, who will be in his ninth season providing his excellent color commentary for FOX Sports Sun.

Orestes Destrade and former Rays pitcher Doug Waechter return as analysts for the pregame and postgame shows, while Rich Hollenberg is back for his fourth season as host.

The biggest change this season will be in the stands.

Alex Corddry rounds out the new broadcast team, replacing now Astros play-by-play announcer Todd Kalas as the in-game reporter and host of select “Inside the Rays” episodes. We wish nothing but the best to TK as he takes on the new adventure.

And of course, there is Spring Training.

As previously announced, FOX Sports Sun will televise a total of seven Rays spring training games from the Grapefruit League in Florida, beginning Tuesday, March 7 at 1:00 p.m.
