The Tampa Bay Rays enjoyed a rare spring training off day yesterday.
Today, they’ll head to Tampa as they’ll be taking on the New York Yankees at 1pm with Fox Sports Sun airing their first Rays game of the year. The Rays currently have a spring record of 6-3-1 while the Yankees hold the best record in the majors at 9-3.
Jake Odorizzi heads to the mound for the Rays, fresh off being selected to participate in the World Baseball Classic. Also slated to throw for the Rays will be Austin Pruitt, Shawn Tolleson, Andrew Kittredge, Taylor Gurrieri, and Ryan Yarbrough.
The Rays are sending out a nice starting lineup for the TV crowd as it features several regulars. It also features two top prospects, and three of the players battling for the Opening Day catcher job.
Corey Dickerson is once again leading off, playing left field. Kevin Kiermaier is in center, with Steven Souza rounding out the outfield.
In the infield from left to right, will be Evan Longoria, Willy Adames, Daniel Robertson, and Michael McKenry will be getting another start at first base. Jesus Sucre will be behind the plate, with Curt Casali playing as the Designated Hitter.
