The Rays lost in walk-off fashion yesterday afternoon to the Yankees, but thankfully that doesn’t matter in the slightest. Their record dropped to 6-4-1 on the spring while the Yankees improved to a major league best, 10-3.
Some notables
- Willy Adames, Corey Dickerson, and Ryan Brett all had solo homers. Dickerson’s was to the opposite field
- Justin Williams showed off an impressive arm in right field, and he also scorched the ball a couple of times at the plate
Today’s Game
The Rays are playing at night for the second time this spring, but not against a major league opponent, instead they’ll take on the Colombian National Team at 6:35pm in Port Charlotte.
Getting the start for the Rays will be Chase Whitley, with Erasmo Ramirez, Jose De Leon, and Xavier Cedeno also slated to throw. The Colombian team will be borrowing a couple of Rays relievers as Neil Wagner, Jeff Ames, and Diego Moreno will throw for them.
Logan Morrison will be making his spring debut as the DH. In the outfield, Jake Bauers is in left, Mallex Smith in center, and Steven Souza is in right.
In the infield from left to right will be Evan Longoria, Tim Beckham, Brad Miller, and Rickie Weeks Jr and Curt Casali will be behind the plate.
Colombia. LoMo. Fireworks.
