Ryan Garton is recalled from Durham after Cedeno is placed on the 10-day disabled list

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Xavier Cedeno, who has not pitched since April 16th, was added to the 10 day disabled list after last night’s game. Ryan Garton was recalled from AAA Durham in a corresponding move.

Cedeno has struggled mightly all season, giving up 4 hits and 4 walks over the 16 batters he has faced, on his way to a 1-1 record and 3.86 ERA (13.63 FIP).

The move leaves the Rays without a true lefty in the pen.

This will be Ryan Garton’s second stint with the big club. Last year he appeared in 37 games for the Rays, with mixed results, as his strong minor league K-rate didn’t quite transfer to the Show.

Garton has worked in five games for the Bulls so far this young season, recording a 1-0 record with one save while posting a 1.35 ERA (2.25 FIP). He has notched ten strikeouts in his six-plus innings of work, while walking four.
