Rays announce new Friday Night radio show Bats N’ Brews on iHeartRadio

Via team press release

As an extension of their partnership, the Tampa Bay Rays and iHeartMedia have launched “Bats N’ Brews,” a new, one-of-a-kind radio show that will air live during all 13 Rays home games on Friday nights at Tropicana Field. The program, which is hosted by iHeartMedia Tampa personalities Scotty Davis, Jay Recher and Molly Giduz (profiles below), will debut this Friday, April 7th at 7:00 p.m. for the entirety of the Rays-Blue Jays game from the DraftKings Deck in center field at Tropicana Field.

Listeners can tune in on “Throwback Tampa Bay,” which can be found on 105.9 FM in Hillsborough County, 94.5 FM in Pinellas County and 99.1 FM in Pasco County.

The program will also regularly stream on Facebook Live to capture the atmosphere of the ballpark on Friday nights, as it airs in conjunction with the Rays new Friday night promotions.* The first show will be live streamed via the Rays Facebook page, but may change streaming locations following Friday’s show.

Rays Chief Business Officer Jeff Cogen commented on the new radio show:

“We are excited to partner with an industry leader to produce and present an alternative, interactive, fun, party-at-the-park atmosphere broadcast every Friday night. Coupled with a special $7.11 ticket and $5 beer, Tropicana Field will be Tampa Bay’s Friday night place.”

The radio program will focus on pop culture and music with an undertone of Rays baseball. Davis, Recher and Giduz will interact and interview fans from the DraftKings Deck and around Tropicana Field, maintaining a fun, party atmosphere throughout the evening while providing Rays game updates.

iHeartMedia Tampa President Sam Nein also commented on the joint venture:

“We excited to partner with the Rays and create an entirely new kind of baseball listening experience for Rays fans. This takes our partnership with the club to an exciting new level and allows iHeartMedia to deliver a totally new and exciting broadcast to the market.”

The show is to be considered a partnership, but will be fully owned by iHeartMedia. The Rays Radio broadcast, which may participate in game day coverage for Bats N’ Brews, is fully owned by the team.

The Rays front office previously clashed with iHeartRadio, which hosts the Rays Radio broadcast of games on 620 WDAE, over the same station’s promotion of nsfw content during the afternoon program.

The Rays extended their contract with iHeartRadio in 2015.
