The Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians meet up tonight as they’ll kick off a three game set.

The Rays are coming off a series victory over the Boston Red Sox, in which they won two of three, capped with a 11-2 victory last night. The victory improved the Rays to 19-21 on the season, five and a half games behind the first place Yankees in the division.

The Cleveland Indians dropped two of three to the Minnesota Twins over the weekend, with their lone victory coming yesterday afternoon as the offense woke up and scored eight runs en route to a 8-3 victory. The Indians are now 19-17 and now a game back of the division leading Twins.

Starting Pitchers

Chris Archer

Archer has reestablished himself as one of the top starting pitchers in all baseball. He was absolutely dominant in his last start, which came on the 10th against Kansas City, where he stymied the Royals for eight shutout innings, walking none and striking out 11. He also only gave up five hits.

Carlos Carrasco

The Cleveland Indians have their starting rotation fall apart this season, with the exception of Carlos Carrasco who has easily been their best starting pitcher. He’s gone at least seven innings or more in four of his seven starts, while he has yet to allow more than three runs in a game. His last outing came on the 9th in Toronto, where he held the Blue Jays scoreless for seven innings, yielding just three hits, while he walked none and struck out seven.

Thus far in 2017, Carrasco has just dominated opposing hitters with righties getting the worst of his wrath (.210 wOBA). Lefties haven’t fared much better, although they’ve shown much more power (4 HR as opposed to 1).
