Fresh off a series victory over the best team in the American League East, the Rays will play host to one of the best players in baseball history as Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim come to town for a four game set.
The Rays have been on a roll as of late, winning their past three series all against teams with records over .500. The streak as them back at .500 (23-23), but still in 4th place in the division. Coincidentally, the Angels come to town at the exact same mark of 23-23, but they’re seven games back of the division leading Astros.
The Angels were on a roll until they ran into the Mets buzz-saw this past weekend. They had won four of five, but then were swept in three games by the Mets.
Starting Pitchers
Jake Odorizzi
Odorizzi wasn’t awful his last time out, but still put up one of his worst performances of the season. He allowed four runs on seven hits — including a home run — but he also walked one and struck out five over six innings pitched. He has pitched at least six innings in five of his seven starts.
J.C. Ramirez
Things have gone pretty well for Ramirez since he took a spot in the Angles rotation around mid-April. He has suffered a few bumps, but when he is ‘on’ he can dominate an opposing lineup. His last time out was on the 16th against the White Sox where he limited Chicago to two runs on five hits — including a homer — while he walked none and struck out two over seven innings pitched.
