Last night, Alex Cobb delivered a wonderful performance as he pitched into the eighth inning but two mistakes to the first two hitters in the game were all the Angels needed to win the game, but they put up two insurance runs in the eighth inning to help nail it down.
The Rays mustered just three hits as they were shutout. They had opportunities to score and made the game very interesting with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh, but the Angels struck their way out of the jam. The Rays offense has now been held scoreless for 17 straight innings.
The loss is the Rays third in a row and they are now back to two games under .500. Tonight the Rays will send Erasmo Ramirez to the mound against Ricky Nolasco with the first pitch slated for 7:10.
