The Tampa Bay Rays offensive force has hit a snag as they have been held scoreless over their past 17 innings. The last runs they’ve score came back in the first inning of Monday’s game when Corey Dickerson and Logan Morrison both went deep. Last night, the Rays were shutout and have now lost three straight and are back two games under .500.
The Angels have meanwhile climbed to two games over the .500 mark with their two straight victories over the Rays, improving to 25-23 on the season. They are currently tied for 2nd in the AL West, but are seven games behind the Astros.
Starting Pitchers
Erasmo Ramirez made his return to the starting rotation his last time out and delivered a solid outing in his return. He allowed two runs, but left with two outs in the sixth innings. The two runs came on six hits, while Ramirez walked a batter and also struck out five.
Ricky Nolasco has been mixing terrible starts with pretty good ones and and he’s due for one of the terrible ones as he was pretty good last time out. He allowed just two runs — one earned — on four hits while he walked three and struck out four over six innings pitched.
