Rays prospects and minor leagues: Rondon homers in 2nd straight game

Adrian Rondon has had a rough season, but he's shown his power lately

Lucius Fox reached base four times for Bowling Green Monday. I'm not sure if he'll be on our Player of the Month poll for May, but he'll certainly be in the mix. He has a .380 on-base percentage this month, and his 30 hits are third in the organization behind Montgomery's Braxton Lee (31) and Cade Gotta (34). I think I've discovered why their offense has been able to stay afloat without Justin Williams.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (29-19)

Durham's rough road trip concluded with a 3-1 loss to Pawtucket. With another quiet game from the lineup, the Bulls finished the trip with a 1-5 record against two North division opponents. They wasted a nice start from Yonny Chirinos returned to the rotation after last week's appearance out of the bullpen with six good innings, allowing just a run while striking out three. After Mike Marjama's RBI single tied the game in the sixth, Neil Wagner was charged with two runs in 1 1/3 innings.

SS Willy Adames: 0-for-4, 1 K
1B Jake Bauers: 0-for-4, 2 K
1B Casey Gillaspie: 0-for-3, 1 BB, 2 K

RHP Yonny Chirinos: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (26-24)

Montgomery was off.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (23-25)

Charlotte was off.

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (22-27)

Adrian Rondon homered for the second straight game in Bowling Green's 5-3 win over Lake County. Rondon didn't go deep until his 28th game this season, but his two-run shot in the third inning Monday provided the winning runs and gave him his third home run in nine games. Starter Willy Ortiz allowed just a run in 4 2/3 innings, and the win was credited to Peter Bayer, who allowed two runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief.

SS Lucius Fox: 1-for-2, 1 R, 1 2B, 3 BB, 1 K, 2 SB
OF Jesus Sanchez: 1-for-4, 1 R, 1 BB
3B Adrian Rondon: 1-for-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
CF Garrett Whitley: 1-for-3, 1 BB, 2 SB

RHP Willy Ortiz: 4 2/3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K
RHP Peter Bayer: 3 1/3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
