Rays’ DOTF 6/12: Nathaniel Lowe homers in quiet day for Rays' system

It was a rather uneventful day down on the Rays’ farm, as Durham was on a scheduled day off and Port Charlotte had their game postponed.

Durham Bulls (39-23)

The Bulls were off

Montgomery Biscuits (34-30)

The Biscuits struggled to hit in a blowout lose to the Chattanooga Lookouts, 6-0. Early on, Jose Mujica and Felix Jorge were matched up in a tight pitcher's duel. Through four innings, neither allowed a run. The Lookouts would crack the score board after a RBI single from Edgar Corcino gave his side a 1-0 advantage. That would be the only run Mujica would allow, turning in 5 23 innings of solid one run baseball. A run would score on a wild pitch in the seventh, making it 2-0. A two out error by Grant Kay in the ninth opened the door for Chattanooga, and they would ambush with four runs in the inning. Mason Melatokis would strike out five in two innings for the save. Felix Jorge would move to 7-1 on the season while Jose Mujica dropped to 5-4.

Port Charlotte Stone Crabs (29-31)

The Crabs game was postponed

Bowling Green Hot Rods (30-33)

It took a little while for Bowling Green to get the bats going and it cost them in a 5-4 loss to the Lake County Captains. In the bottom of the first inning, Adrian Navas gave up a two-run home run to Miguel Eladio. In response, Garrett Whitley pulled through with a RBI single in the top of the second. Junior Soto would go deep to extend the Captains’ lead to 3-1, and it would be 4-1 by the end of the third. Navas would be bitten by the home run ball for a third time in the fifth inning, this time by Li-Jen Chu. A RBI groundout from Jonah Heim would trim the deficit to 5-2. In the eighth inning, Jesus Sanchez would try to score on a single from Michael Brosseau but would be thrown out. Nathaniel Lowe would hit a home run as the next hitter, making it 5-4. The Hot Rods would come up short in the end, however. The loss drops Bowling Green to 30-33.
