Tampa Bay Rays News and Links: Beckham’s X-Rays Were Negative

The Rays are still in possession of the second wild card spot after last night’s loss

MLB: Cincinnati Reds at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Last night, the Tampa Bay Rays fell to Cincinnati as the Reds snapped their nine game losing skid. The Rays tried to battle back from a three run deficit, but the bullpen failed to contain the Reds offense during the eighth inning and Cincinnati would take the first game of the series, 7-3.

During the game, Tim Beckham was hit by a pitch in the hand. He’d stay in to run the bases, but was removed the next half inning. The X-Rays would be negative, but Beckham will likely be out the rest of the series.

The Rays are now 37-36, and are tied with the Minnesota Twins for the second wild card spot.

Alex Cobb goes to the mound tonight for the Rays as they’ll take on Amir Garrett and the Reds.
