Rays prospects and minor leagues: Yarbrough pitches Bulls to win

Great pitching performances from Ryan Yarbrough and Austin Franklin led Rays affiliates over Orioles affiliates

In Omaha action, Florida topped Louisville, 5-1. Brendan McKay doubled twice in the loss, while JJ Schwarz was 0-for-4.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (42-28)

Ryan Yarbrough pitched a good game in Durham's 3-2 win over Norfolk. He retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced and didn't allow a run until he allowed three straight hits to open the sixth inning. He finished with two runs allowed in six innings with eight strikeouts. Fortunately, the Bulls already led 3-0. Mike Marjama's RBI double in the fourth made it 1-0, and Wilson Ramos drove in two with a double in the fifth.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (30-37)

Charlotte lost a lead late in a 4-3 loss to Palm Beach. After allowing a two-out run in the first, Genesis Cabrera settled in and delivered another good start, allowing just that run on four hits in six innings with four strikeouts and no walks. Peter Maris tied the game with an RBI double in the third, and Brett Sullivan's home run an inning later gave the Stone Crabs the lead. In the eighth, Brandon Lawson allowed three runs. Charlotte scored again in the ninth and had the tying run on third with one outs, but Brandon Lowe and Thomas Milone struck out to end the game.

Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (1-0)

For the sixth year in a row, Hudson Valley opened the season by beating Aberdeen, this time by an 11-2 score. The IronBirds scored first on a first-inning solo home run, but the Renegades scored seven over the next two innings after the rehabbing Zach Britton left the game. In the ninth, Zacrey Law and Angel Perez opened the lead up even more with a pair of two-run home runs. Starter Austin Franklin struck out nine and only allowed a run in five innings.
