Rays DOTF 6/24: Casey Gillaspie and Willy Adames lead Durham offense

Benton Moss and Hunter Wood provide strong starts.

Benton Moss led the pitchers on the farm. Willy Adames and Casey Gillaspie led offensive performers.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (44-29)

The Durham Bulls defeated the Charlotte Knights 9-4. The Bulls were in control of the game after a seven run fourth innings gave them a 8-1 lead. Hunter Wood contributed a solid start allowing three runs in six innings. The Bulls did their damage against Carlos Rodon scoring eight runs in 4.1 innings. Casey Gillaspie hit two doubles and Willy Adames added two hits including a triple.

Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (38-34)

The Montgomery Biscuits beat the Birmingham Barons 3-2 in eleven innings. The Biscuits took a 2-0 lead in the first, but Birmingham tied up the game at two through five. Benton Moss outdueled Michael Kopech. Moss put up seven strong innings allowing two runs, one earned. Nick Ciuffo game through with a walk off single. Joe McCarthy and Grant Kay collected multiple hits.

The Port Charlotte Stone Crabs got blown out by the St. Lucie Mets 19-7. The Stone Crabs sprinted out to a 5-0 lead through two innings, but back to back seven run frames in the fourth and fifth put them behind 18-6.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods game was postponed.

Class A Short Season Hudson Valley Renegades (2-2)

The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Staten Island Yankees 8-6. Hudson Valley went down 5-1 after a four run third. The Renegades rally in the second half of the game came up short. Vidal Brujan continued his hot start to the season with three more hits. Emilio Gustave, Oscar Rojas, Bill Pujols, and Deion Tansel each collected two hits.

The Princeton Rays were defeated 9-5 by the Pulaski Yankees. The Yankees got off to a quick start holding a 9-1 lead through five innings. The Rays rallied for four runs in the eighth inning. Carl Chester, Ronaldo Hernandez, and Bryce Brown had two hits a piece.

The DSL Rays 1 picked up a rare win in a 6-4 victory over the DSL Braves. The Rays 1 ran wild picking up five stolen bases. A three run sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie through the front five. Jose Piera, Johan Lopez, and Luis Perez put two hits each on the board.

Short Season DSL Rays 2 (9-7)

The DSL Rays 2 beat the DSL Pirates 6-3 in ten innings. After falling behind 3-1 early the Rays 2 came back to tie the game at three through seven innings. A three run tenth inning gave the DSL Rays the win. Abiezel Ramirez, Luis Arcendo, Freddvil Chevez, Dewins Verbel, and Johampher Arrendoll had two hits each.
