Rays prospects and minor leagues: Fox homers for Charlotte

In his 13th game with Charlotte, Lucius Fox has his first extra-base hit

Luis Rengifo, acquired in the minor Ryan Garton trade with Seattle, already seems comfortable in his new organization. In his first couple games with Bowling Green, he’s reached base six times and stole a base.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (72-45)

Johnny Field’s walkoff single finally broke the ice in Durham’s 11-inning, 1-0 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The teams combined for just nine hits, and the biggest two came in the 11th. Kean Wong led off with a double, and after a pair of unproductive outs, Field delivered the winning hit. Mike Broadeay made a start and struck out three in two perfect innings, and Chih-Wei Hu struck out five in 2 1/3 frames.

Lucius Fox homered, and Brock Burke was sharp in Charlotte’s 3-0 win over Bradenton. Fox’s first home run with the Stone Crabs led off the game and gave Burke a lead before he even took the mound. The lefty would pitch five scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Spencer Jones followed and struck out three over the final four frames.

Bowling Green broke out for five runs in the eighth in its 5-2 win over Fort Wayne. Until that inning, the Hot Rods were unable to generate much offense. With one out and a runner on, Emilio Gustave started a string of four straight hits that made it a 3-2 game. Rene Pinto then doubled in two more runs. Kenny Rosenberg allowed back-to-back home runs in the second inning but held the TinCaps to two through six innings total.

Starter Resly Linares allowed two runs in 5 23 innings.

Princeton came up short in a 6-5 loss to Kingsport. An inning after erasing a 4-2 deficit, Princeton found itself behind again in the seventh when Zack Trageton allowed two more runs. A Kevin Santiago run-scoring double play brought Princeton closer in the eighth, but it could not re-tie the game. Starter Easton McGee allowed four runs -- three earned -- in five innings.

Yoel Espinal started and threw and scoreless innings, and Miguel Lara struck out five and allowed two runs in five innings.
