After a couple rough starts, Brock Burke has now put together consecutive good outings for Charlotte, including striking out a career-best 12 batters Tuesday. It’s his second double-digit strikeout game this season.
Triple-A Durham Bulls (73-48)
Despite home runs from Willy Adames and Jake Bauers, Durham fell to Syracuse by a 5-4 score. Adames’ solo shot in the fifth tied the game at three, but the Chiefs were the rare team able to solve Yonny Chirinos and retook the lead the following half inning. Chirinos allowed all five Syracuse runs on seven hits in six innings. Bauers hit his 11th dinger of the season in the eighth.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (29-22)
Thomas Milone’s walkoff home run lifted Charlotte to a 2-1 win over Jupiter in the 10th inning of their suspended game. For Milone, it was his first home run in over a year, which also came against the Hammerheads. This game started with Jose De Leon pitching two scoreless innings and ended with Michael Velasquez dominating Jupiter, striking out nine and only allowing a run in eight innings.
After giving up two first inning runs, Brock Burke settled in and struck out 12 Hammerheads in Charlotte’s Game 2, 5-2 win. Following the two-out, two-run double in the first, Burke retired 14 of the next 15 batters he faced on his way to a dominant eight-inning performance. In the fourth, Michael Brosseau’s RBI single tied the game, and Nathaniel Lowe’s two-out single put the Stone Crabs in front.

Joel Peguero was charged with six runs in 1 1/3 innings, and Luis Moncada didn’t fare much better.
