Rays prospects and minor leagues: Adames drives in career-best 5 runs

Willy Adames reached base four times and plated five in a big game Friday

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays-Media Day Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Andriese’s rehab outing Friday was cut short when he was hit in the leg by a batted ball. As I write this Friday night, I’m not aware of the severity of the potential injury.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (76-48)

Durham used a pair of four-run innings to earn a 10-6 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In the fourth, the Bulls erased a 1-0 deficit with four two-out runs. Kean Wong and Willy Adames each drove in two. An inning later, Adames drove in another run in another four-run inning. Michael Roth allowed all six RailRiders runs, five of which were earned.

The Barons scored three in the bottom half of the inning and added two more in the third. Starter Benton Moss allowed six runs -- three earned — in six innings and struck out five.

Class A-Advanced Charlotte Stone Crabs (31-23)

Jonah Heim’s walkoff single lifted Charlotte to a 3-2 win over Clearwater. After the Stone Crabs gave up a 2-0 lead in the eighth, Riley Unroe and Thomas Milone had one-out hits in the ninth to set up Heim’s heroics. The rehabbing Matt Andriese only lasted two pitches after he was hit in the leg by a batted ball, but Tyler Brashears picked him up with 3 1/3 scoreless innings in piggyback duty.

After dominating the New York-Penn League through eight starts, York struck out two and allowed just a hit and a walk in his introduction to Midwest League hitters. The Hot Rods finally broke the scoreless tie with three runs in the seventh, and Jesus Sanchez added a solo homer in the eighth.

Short-Season Hudson Valley Renegades (30-25)

Rookie Princeton Rays (20-34)

It was a rare quiet night for offense in Princeton’s 3-1 loss to Burlington. Princeton scored first on Devin Davis’ two-out double in the first, but Princeton’s offense produced just two more hits over the final eight innings. Starter Josh Fleming allowed three runs on eight hits in four frames, and Tyler Zombro struck out four in three scoreless innings of relief.
