Rays prospects and minor leagues: Renegades’ streak comes to an end

Hudson Valley couldn’t make it 15 wins in a row despite three hits from Zacrey Law

Jesus Sanchez is in the midst of an interesting month. His four home runs are a season-high for him this year, and his .819 OPS isn’t bad. He’s also been striking out a lot more than he had been all season with a 27.8 percent strikeout rate. He has five games with three strikeouts this season, and four of them have come this month.

Triple-A Durham Bulls (80-52)

Yonny Chirinos was at it again in Durham’s 3-2 win over Norfolk. He only struck out two, but he threw six more scoreless innings and earned his 12th win. Taylor Featherston provided all the runs the Bulls needed with a three-run homer in the fourth.

Joe McCarthy homered, but Montgomery needed a few more hits in its 12-inning, 4-3 loss to Mobile. After Dalton Kelly and Justin Williams’ RBI hits in the sixth, the Biscuits only had three hits throughout the rest of the game. Starter Edwin Fierro allowed three runs in five innings, and the Montgomery bullpen only allowed an unearned run over the final seven frames.

Class-A Bowling Green Hot Rods (36-26)

Bowling Green was shut down by former Detroit first-round pick Matt Manning in a 3-0 loss to West Michigan. While Manning struck out six in six scoreless innings, Hot Rods starter Willy Ortiz was charged with three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Josh Lowe and Jim Haley each had two of Bowling Green’s five hits.

Hudson Valley’s 14-game winning streak came to an end in an 8-3 loss to Connecticut. The game was tied at one until Eduard Rosillo replaced Jhonleider Salinas in the fifth, and Connecticut scored six runs. Rosillo was charged with all six ones and only recorded one out. Salinas allowed a run on five hits and four walks in four innings.

Princeton 6-0 before Johnson City even scored, but it really broke out with six more runs in the eighth. Trey Hair capped the scoring with a three-run homer.
