Tonight, the Durham Bulls will play the final minor league game of the 2017 season as they will take on the St Louis Cardinals affiliated Memphis Redbirds in the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game.
The Durham Bulls will send their pitcher of the year, Ryan Yabrough to the mound and he’ll be opposed by Dakota Hudson, who was the pitcher of the year in the Texas League. Yarbrough came to the Rays during the past off-season as part of the Drew Smyly trade.
The Rays will have several top prospects in their starting lineup with the the most notable being Willy Adames, Jake Bauers, and Justin Williams. The top right-handed pitching prospect in all of baseball, Brent Honeywell, is available to pitch out of the bullpen if needed.
Honeywell really wants to pitch.
“I’m looking to strike out six if I go two; three if I go one,”
First pitch is slated for 7:07 pm Eastern with NBC Sports providing live coverage of the game.
Online or on mobile, the game can also be watched with Milb.TV
The Bulls are a Triple-A dynasty and are in their 20th year as an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. During their history with the Rays, the Bulls have won the International League title five times, their division title 13 times, and they have one Triple-A championship.
